Andrew Middleton

Andrew Middleton is a composer, arranger and music educator based in the North East of England. Andrew is an accomplished flautist, and keen saxophonist and pianist, but whilst studying music at Newcastle University (2007 to 2012) Andrew specialised in contemporary composition and arranging/orchestrating music. Since then Andrew has had the opportunity to work with a range of soloists, ensembles and composers including: the saxophonist Amy Dickenson and British composer Colin Matthews, as well as Durham University Concert Band. In May 2019, Andrew was shortlisted for the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Young Composer in Association Programme; and, Andrew is currently preparing performance material for his orchestral composition, “A Tyneside Rhapsody,” which will receive its’ premier by the Orquestra Sinfônica de Limeria, in Brazil, in June 2020; as well as working with Breitkopf & Härtel on arrangements of the music of Jean Sibelius for Symphonic Winds. As well as composition, Andrew dedicates his time to Music Education teaching both children and adults performance in flute and piano, music theory, and of course composition.
